What is the inclement weather policy?

Any delays and/or cancellations will be dictated by the department of emergency services. These delays and/or cancellations are decided on a case by case basis and are dictated by a variety of variables. If a situation arises where this is the case, we will do our best to communicate to our participants as soon as we are able.

When does the race take place?

The event will take place on Saturday AND Sunday, October 6th – 7th, 2018

  • 5K race will start promptly at 8:00AM on Saturday, October 6th
  • Full marathon, half marathon, and relay will start with the wheelchair division on Sunday, October 7th at 7:25am, followed by all other participants at 7:30AM

Is the course flat or is it hilly?

The half marathon elevation is the first half of the marathon course.

Will there be pacing at the event?

Yes, there will be pacing for the marathon, half marathon, and relayers. Pace times with their respective races will be posted closer to the event.

Is there a time limit for completing the marathon?

Yes, the course will only be open for 6 hours (7:30PM – 1:30PM). **Participants must maintain a 13:43 minute per mile pace throughout the race (6-hour marathon finish and 3-hour half marathon finish) due to rolling re-openings on city streets. Anyone not maintaining this pace will be asked to proceed at his/her own risk on the sidewalks without course support.

Can I walk the 5K and/or Half Marathon?

Yes, you may walk the 5K and/or the half marathon race(s). However, participants must maintain a 13:43 minute per mile pace throughout the half marathon race (3 hour finish) due to rolling re-openings on city streets. Anyone not maintaining that pace will be asked to proceed at his/her own risk on the sidewalks.

Is the marathon a Boston Marathon qualifier?

Yes, the WhiskyDaddle is a qualifying course for the Boston Marathon. To read more about qualifying for the Boston Marathon, click here.

Will there be packet pick-up on race day?

There will be no race day packet pick-up. Packet pick-up will take place exclusively on Friday. October 5th from 9:00AM until 7:00PM for the 5K and Friday and Saturday, October 5th and 6th from 9:00AM until 7:00PM at Running Central (311 SW Water Street, Peoria, IL 61602).

Will there be gear check on race day?

Gear Check will be available on Sunday ONLY — and is available to all race participants. Gear check will be located on the Peoria Riverfront at CEFCU Center Stage. You can access it off of the intersection of Main Street and Water Street in downtown Peoria. Furthermore, participants will receive a clear plastic bag at packet pick-up that is to be used at gear check. Only these race-specific clear plastic bags are to be used for gear check on race day. This is for everyone’s safety.

Are there driving instructions for marathon relay members?

Marathon Relayers can access driving instructions HERE. These instructions will also be provided via e-mail leading up to the race. Please note, that although the instructions appear to take you away from the course, they are intended to help you get to each relay exchange zone as efficiently as possible while avoiding any potential traffic issues along the course route.

Where should I park on race day?

Participants are encouraged to utilize the public parking lots available at:Riverfront Parking

  • Near Liberty Street & SW Water Street
  • Commercial St & SW Water Street (near Hooter’s Restaurant)

Street Parking

  • Washington Street
  • Adams St. (before 7:30am and after 8:30am)

What are “Athlete Updates” and how can I sign up for them?

Athlete Updates can be Facebook “posts,” Twitter “tweets,” or text messages that are automatically sent out while you are racing to let others know how you are doing on the course. Can I run and push my child in a stroller?

Yes, we just ask that people running with strollers start in the back of the corral.

Can I change races?

We do allow race changes on a first come, first served basis. However, we cannot guarantee that we will be able to accommodate all requests. Please note that there are races limits and the closer to the event, the less likely transfers can take place.

Can I get a refund or transfer my race entry to another participant?

Unfortunately, you may not. All registrations are final and may not be refunded nor transferred.
