Union Station was mostly empty at the midnight hour, something that was
sure to change soon when the downtown parties and celebrations would
start winding down.
“Let’s get something to go and sit by the river and enjoy this beautiful night,”
“That sounds great,”
said Dan. He was looking over the large menu at the
counter, even though he practically knew it by heart.
“Do you want to look?”
“No, I know what I want,”
said Daisy confidently. Dan laughed and turned to
the counterman, who was busily working away.
“Hey there, Big Dan! Happy New Year! What can I get ya?”
“The lady here will have…”
Dan paused and looked at Daisy.
“Ha! Should I make that two, Big Dan?”
laughed Dan, as he turned to Daisy.
“Well, that’s a coincidence.”
“Or a sign,”
