As Daisy looked out from her second-floor perch and saw the people
moving by below, one person – one very large person – stood out as
somehow being familiar. She squinted a little. Julia noticed.
“What do you see, my pet?”
“I see a nice man,”
Daisy said, still squinting at Dan, who was looking up at her as well.
Julia quickly spied Dan among the lightening crowds along the well-lit street.
“Is that the…,”
Julia started and Daisy stopped her.
she said quietly.
“He’s the one that was at the house that night.”
“I remember him well,”
said Julia with a slight smile.
“I don’t know if he remembers me,”
said Daisy with no smile.
“Well, ask him,”
said Julia as she closed her eyes and rested her head back against the sill.
“I’m too tired to offer any other advice.”
